Theaters

Available translations:

Carlo Felice theater from inside. Genoa, city of theatres: stage of excellence for playwrights, directors, actors, stage designers; and, in general, personalities of the extremely varied show business. The theatre tradition, which has very old and well-established origins here, always produces new high-quality events and many entertainment opportunities.

Over the centuries, the city - itself home to stage talents – received many celebrated playwrights, and composers: from Carlo Goldoni, who even met his future wife in Genoa, to Giuseppe Verdi, who wrote Falstaff here (and a renowned confectioner dedicated a dessert to him with the same name), to many other music and opera performers. _ A tradition that has always been and is becoming more and more successful.

The Teatro Carlo Felice, which was opened in 1828 and rebuilt in 1991 using state-of-the-art technology, is an internationally renowned “must-see”, as well as the Teatro di Genova established in 1951, and the Teatro della Tosse, the first example of alternative repertory theatre. Not withstanding the fact that the city is itself a wonderful stage, theatres flourish (and re-flourish) everywhere around town.
